The Matsushita International Foundation was established with the objective to contribute to the development of world culture and peace by promoting mutual understanding between Japan and other countries and by developing personnel capable of promoting this understanding.

In line with this goal, the foundation provides funds to research activities in the areas of humanities and social sciences that pertain to establishing international relationships based on global perspectives, solving various issues existing between Japan and other countries, or proposing various measures to promote mutual understanding. The foundation expects challenging themes that are creative and filled with pioneering ideas as well as international research, on issues of social, academic, and international needs in the broad area applicable to the above mentioned objective.
