The Henry Ransom Humanities Research Center, based in Austin, Texas, invites proposals for scholarly research projects in all areas of the humanities. Priority will be given to those proposals that concentrate on the Center's collections and that require substantial on-site use of them.

This year's special topic will be "In Times of War." Applications from scholars investigating the transatlantic cultural exchange of ideas, in particular, but not exclusively those affected by times of war, are encouraged. The Center hopes to foster inquiry into the nature of the cultural and intellectual dialogue between Europe and the United States.

In addition, the Center offers Dissertation Fellowships, designated for graduate students who are working on doctoral dissertations. Dissertation Fellowship residencies must be taken up during the period from September 1, 2007, through August 31, 2008. These Fellowships are jointly sponsored by the Ransom Center and The University of Texas Office of Graduate Studies.

All applicants, with the exception of applicants for Dissertation Fellowships, must be post-doctorates or possess an equivalent terminal degree or substantial record of scholarly achievement.
